HOW IT WORKS
Fitting ThunderShirt on your dog is simple! Just select the right size for your dog’s weight. ThunderShirt is designed to be very easy to put on and take off too… no need for pulling anything over your dog’s head or threading their legs through leg holes. When sized correctly and properly put on with a soothingly snug fit, your dog should be very comfortable.
Introduce your dog to their ThunderShirt when they are calm and relaxed. Reward your dog for investigating the jacket and remaining calm. When you first place ThunderShirt on your dog, leave it on for 5-10 minutes and give them a treat after you put it on. If your dog will be wearing their ThunderShirt for more than one hour at a time, we recommend removing it every one to two hours during the initial periods to check for any signs of irritation – it’s very rare, but it is best to be cautious. Then, when wearing for extended periods, we recommend that you remove the ThunderShirt at least twice a day for thirty minutes.

What does a stressed dog do?

When should I use ThunderShirt?
The jacket can be used daily on any type of dog. Try it first when your dog is happy to build a positive association from the start. If you know a stressful event is happening, put it on just before its starts.
How does ThunderShirt work?

How long can I leave ThunderShirt on my dog?
Most people say that their dogs really enjoy wearing their ThunderShirts and they are safe to leave on for extended periods of time depending on the issue. But, please note! We recommend removing ThunderShirt every one to two hours the first few times to be sure everything is fitting correctly and your pet is happy. Irritation or other issues are very rare, but it’s always best to be cautious. AND, always remove ThunderShirt at least twice a day if using for extended periods.
What if ThunderShirt isn’t working for my dog?
We stand behind our product! ThunderShirt is a terrific solution for most dogs suffering from stress. Many owners see the benefits for their dog being calmer with the very first use. With others, it may take two or three usages of ThunderShirt to see results.

What if I see signs of discomfort or irritation with my dog when wearing ThunderShirt?
When sized and put on properly, your dog should be very comfortable wearing ThunderShirt. Problems are very rare, but if you see any signs of skin irritation or physical discomfort, please discontinue use and contact us.
How should I clean ThunderShirt?
ThunderShirt is made with durable, washable fabric. It may be washed on a regular cold wash cycle. Make sure all of the hook and loop fasteners are connected to avoid the risk that they grab other fabrics in the wash. Hang to dry.
Is overheating a concern when using ThunderShirt?
Except in extreme conditions (32°C in the sun), overheating is not typically a concern when using ThunderShirt. Dogs cool themselves primarily through their mouths and paws, and a ThunderShirt is constructed of a thin, breathable fabric.
Are there any special sizing and fit considerations for male dogs?
When fitting ThunderShirt on a male dog, the straps that go around the stomach area should not cover or push on the genitals. If the ThunderShirt rubs against the genitals, irritation may result. If you see any indications of this, remove the ThunderShirt immediately. Try a smaller size or contact us for other suggestions.
What can I do for an even calmer dog?
You can try combining your ThunderShirt and ADAPTIL Travel Spray. Simply spray the ADAPTIL Spray on the ThunderPatch on your ThunderShirt 15 minutes before you put ThunderShirt on your dog.
